Un-Making Architecture: Special Issue of The Journal of Architecture

Expected April 2023

Along with Jason E. Nguyen, I have guest edited a forthcoming special issue of The Journal of Architecture: "Un-Making Architecture". The issue will explore the converging modalities of un-making in architectural culture and history, from the destruction of buildings and environments to the dismantling of architectural institutions and practices.

Strasbourg 1560-1600

I am contributing two catalogue essays to this exhibition at the Musée de l'Oeuvre Notre-Dame, Strasbourg, curated by Cécile Dupeux and scheduled to open in January 2024. The exhibition will survey the artistic culture of a city at the crossroads of late Renaissance Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands, and will feature the protagonist of my forthcoming book, The Architectural Image and Early Modern Science: Wendel Dietterlin and the Rise of Empirical Investigation.

'21/'22 ESALA Architectural History & Theory Seminar Series

The '21 / '22 season of ESALA's Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series, co-organised with Moa Carlsson, was the first to materialise as a suite of digital events. Speakers included Lawrence Chua, Ünver Rüstem, Adedoyin Teriba, Basile Baudez, Ian Campbell, Barbara Penner, Laura Fernández-González, Ximena A. Gómez, Peter Clericuzio, Mark Laird, Zeynep Çelik Alexander, Tara A. Dudley, Charles L. Davis II, and Nancy S. Steinhardt.

'20/'21 ESALA Architectural History & Theory Seminar Series: "Interviews on Method"

The '20 / '21 season of ESALA's Architectural History and Theory Seminar Series, co-organised with Moa Carlsson, appeared as a suite of eight interviews with historians on the methods they use to investigate architecture and the built environment. The interviewees included Samia Henni, Iain Jackson, Margaret Stewart, Jason E. Nguyen, Laurajane Smith, Ana María León, Jessica Varner, Heather Hyde Minor and Carolyn Yerkes.
